Description
In response to the global imperative to address climate change, the commercial real estate industry is positioning itself as a leader in addressing emissions in the built environment. While operational GHG emissions have received significant attention, this session will additionally focus on whole building carbon and scope 3 emissions. The session will empower property managers, building owners, developers, and sustainability and design professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand and achieve dramatic reductions in GHG emissions in new and existing real estate projects. Partners from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Initiative and Better Climate Challenge will share real-world, replicable insights on pursuing and achieving significant emissions reduction across all emissions scopes while developing comprehensive plans for portfolio-wide carbon reduction. The Department of Energy (DOE) will also highlight tools and resources for effective carbon mitigation.
