Profile
Darrell Rounds currently serves as the EV Infrastructure Strategy Lead for North America for General Motors Company’s Sustainable Workplaces organization. Prior to this role, Darrell was the Operations Group Manager responsible for Facilities Management at the General Motors’ World Headquarters in Detroit, MI, and over 30 additional commercial properties throughout the United States. Darrell has more than 24 years of facilities management, construction, and engineering experience. He has led operations and maintenance activities for portfolios totaling more than 53 million square feet and $7.2 billion in asset replacement costs. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and his Master of Science in Construction Management from Eastern Michigan University. He carries the designation of Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®) from BOMI International and is a Certified Energy Manager (C.E.M.) with the Association of Energy Engineers.
Darrell is a member of BOMA International’s Industrial Committee as well as BOMA Metro Detroit’s Professional Development and Supplier Committees.
Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Institute of Building Sciences as well as a member of the ProFM® Institute’s commission that developed the ProFM® facilities manager certification. In 2021, he was appointed to the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations Industry Advisory Group.
Darrell prides himself in being a change agent and a value creator. He is a thought leader within the FM space, having been featured as a columnist for Facility Maintenance Decisions magazine, a sought-out conference speaker, and a guest on several FM industry podcasts. He enjoys collaborating with others to advance the great profession of Facilities Management.
