Forrest “Peter” Franklin , Fellow, College of Forensic Examiners Institute (2007), is Board Certified in Security Management, Disaster Recovery and Homeland Security. He retired as Director of Security at Transamerica Pyramid where for five years he was tasked with protection of that icon from avowed terrorist attack. Previously he was Director of Operations during his twelve years at Embarcadero Center, a 6.6 million square foot mixed use complex in San Francisco. He has been Director of Investigations for a major international consultancy; and poised a 160-site high-tech firm’s security department for migration to Central and South America. Franklin has worked as a consultant and expert witness for plaintiff and defense attorneys in more than three hundred cases involving premise and personal liability, adequacy of security/safety and security management, operations, and training. He has been expert of record in three landmark workplace mass murder litigations and the Oakland Hills Firestorm (1991). He was elevated to Chair Emeritus of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA SF) Emergency Preparedness Committee which received separate awards of excellence in 2011 from Business Recovery Managers Association (BRMA) and BOMA’s Political Affairs Council, and has served four years on the ASIS International Fire Life Safety Council. He also served terms on ASIS’ Professional Certification, and Foundation Boards and Diversity Council. He is currently on the BOMA International Preparedness Committee and a literary contributor. Mr. Franklin has consulted to multi-national corporations and domestic and foreign governments at all levels. He is an author, educator and internationally recognized expert in the areas of workplace violence, crisis episode intervention and premises liability. He has authored global security operations protocols disseminated in thirty-nine countries.
