The Urban Beekeeping Company
Alvéole builds ecological awareness in urban spaces, using honey bees as a platform to inspire environmental change. The social enterprise installs beehives on urban rooftops, providing clients with an educational service and exceptional experience. Since its foundation in 2013, Alvéole has (re)connected 500 companies, 150 schools, 20 cities and 250 families to nature in cities, changing their sense of responsibility towards the environment.
The certified B Corp also uses technological innovation for better interaction between hives and humans. Their social platform, My Hive, is where people can share data and input with the rest of the beekeeping community. It’s where they can see schedules, workshops, photos, videos, real-time reports, and hive history, all posted on a public page which can be shared on social media or on internal or external websites.
Today, Alvéole is comprised of a tight-knit team of 50, active from coast to coast in seven major North American cities.
