BOMA 2011 Goes Behind the Scenes on Two Fascinating Tours

1. National Harbor Mixed-Use Development

Monday, June 27, 2:00-4:00 pm

Developed by the Peterson Companies, National Harbor is located on 300 acres of prime real estate along the scenic Potomac River.  Built on a scale rarely seen, National Harbor features 7,300,000 s.f. of master plan mixed-use community with 1,000,000 s.f. of retail, dining and entertainment spaces, 2,500 lavish residences, 500,000 s.f. of Class "A" office space, 3 piers and a marina, and 10,000 on-site parking spaces. 2. Prince George's County Single Stream Processing Facility

Tuesday, June 28, 2:00-5:00 pm

Waste Management's recycling facility near National Harbor is a single stream facility that sorts and markets recyclable materials. Single stream recycling is a technology that allows recyclables to be comingled in a single recycling container and emptied into the same compactor. Typical waste streams can include office paper, newspaper, mail and magazines, plastic containers, aluminum and steel cans, cardboard and food boxes. Single stream recycling, because of its simplicity, is the easiest program to implement and the most effective means of getting office tenants engaged and involved in recycling. Tour participants will see the entire recycling process from delivery of the comingled recyclables, the automated sorting process to separate the materials, and baling of the sorted materials into a final product that can be sold for reuse.

Register Now, Space is Limited

There is no additional cost to participate in these facility tours, however, full conference registration is required. You may sign-up when you register for the conference. Space is limited and sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis.  The National Harbor tour is a walking tour.  Motor coach transportation to the Single Stream Processing Facility tour will depart Gaylord National at 2:00 pm and return by 5:00 pm.
